Struck 37 AD. Constantinople mint. CONSTANTI-NVS MAX AVG, laureate head right / SPES PVBLIC across field, labarum, with three medallions on drapery and crowned by a christogram, spearing serpent. RIC VII 19. EF, green patina. Extremely rare. [See color plate 14] ($3000) According to RIC, this famous reverse type represents the defeat of tyranny by the death of Licinius. Yet, the scene also has powerful Christian imagery in that it allegorically portrays the power of Christianity over evil.

コイン裏面デザインはキリストの略称ＸＰのモノグラムが一番上、ローマ帝国の繁栄の対象の蛇が一番下にデザインされ発行されています。
ＸＰのモノグラムがデザインされていることを考えますとキリスト教信者によって発行されていることは疑う余地がありません。
したがって描かれている蛇は悪魔の対象ということになります。
裏面レジェンド：SPES PVBLICAですからローマ帝国民の希望はキリスト教が担うと解釈できます。
326年の忌まわしい事件によりコンスタンテイヌス帝の精神が人生で一番弱っている時期にこのようなイベントコインを発行されてしまっています。
2000年にはいって本タイプのほど良いコインは数枚しか確認されておりません。 キリスト教徒にとってはキリスト教勢力拡大の初期において輝かしい記念すべきコインといって良いでしょう。
