Green patina and about extremely fine This coin type, struck only at Constantinople in a single emission of c. A.D. 327-328, has long been recognized as Constantine’s only explicitly Christian type. He certainly makes use of the Chi-Rho as field symbols and, in rare instances, as decorations on helmets, but this is the only issue from his reign in which the design itself is thoroughly Christian. Since it was not part of a general program of Christian coin types, but was an isolated issue, we might think in terms of a special occasion. Estimate: 7500 CHF

コンスタンテイヌス帝が最も大切にすべき家族である長子クリスプス、妻ファウスタを処刑した翌年の327年に発行されています。
コイン裏面デザインはキリストの略称ＸＰのモノグラムが一番上、ローマ帝国の繁栄の対象の蛇が一番下にデザインされ発行されています。
ＸＰのモノグラムがデザインされていることを考えますとキリスト教信者によって発行されていることは疑う余地がありません。
したがって描かれている蛇は悪魔の対象ということになります。
裏面レジェンド：SPES PVBLICAですからローマ帝国民の希望はキリスト教が担うと解釈できます。
326年の忌まわしい事件によりコンスタンテイヌス帝の精神が人生で一番弱っている時期にこのようなイベントコインを発行されてしまっています。
2000年にはいって本タイプのほど良いコインは数枚しか確認されておりません。 キリスト教徒にとってはキリスト教勢力拡大の初期において輝かしい記念すべきコインといって良いでしょう。
