AE3 of Constantine The Great, 308-337 A.D.
Sear #3873 - Grades VF
Obverse: CONSTANTINVS.AVG.
Laureate head right.
Reverse: D.N.CONSTANTINI.MAX.AVG. around laurel-wreath; VOT./XX.
within wreath.
Constantine I, also known as Constantine the Great, was the first
Roman emperor to convert to Christianity. This bronze coin,
struck during his reign as Augustus, is about 19mm in diameter
(about the size of a U.S. cent) and grades VF. Minor encrustation
on the reverse obscures some of the inscription (particularly the
mintmark), but essentially this is a nice mid-grade piece of this
renowned Roman ruler. Reference: Sear #3873.
