Description
This piece was minted at Constantinople in 328 AD, during the
reign of Constantine the Great, who ruled from 307-337 AD.
Constantine is best known as the first Christian emperor of Rome,
and was responsible for the famous Edict of Milan, which granted
religious toleration to all subjects of the empire. He also was
responsible for the establishment of Constantinople as the
empire's Eastern capital. The obverse of this piece depicts the
rosette-diademed head of Constantine I facing right, looking
heavenward, with legends CONSTANTINVS.MAX.AVG. This style of
obverse portrait is said to represent Constantine looking to the
heavens for inspiration, as he might have prior to the famed
battle of the Milvian Bridge, where it is said he was inspired by
a sign from God. The reverse type features Victory seated left
next to a trophy, spurning a captive at left. The legends read
CONSTANTINIANA DAFNE., and the mint/oficina mark CONS appears in
the exergue. This type was minted to commemorate the construction
of the fortress of Daphne on the Danube. Coin shows granular
surfaces, but otherwise grades F+/F, with clear devices and most
legends visible. A very decent example of this very scarce type,
which combines the scarce Dafne reverse with the always sought
after obverse of Constantine looking heavenward. All coins
guaranteed genuine without limitations. Buyer pays
postage/insurance, coin shipped on clearance of funds. PA
residents please add appropriate sales tax. MC/Visa accepted for
orders of $20 or more. Member ANA, PAN. Thanks!

Details for the seller and high bidder(s):
The seller should contact the winning bidder(s) with information on the
total cost, including shipping, and where to send payment. The winning
bidder(s) must pay the seller directly for the item(s), and it is the
seller's responsibility to fulfill the order when payment terms are met.
The binding contract of the auction is between the winning bidder and the

If the seller is unable to establish contact with the high bidder within 3

if the high bidder does not contact the seller within 3 business days of
the end of the auction, he/she may lose the place as winning bidder, and be
at risk for receiving negative feedback and/or a Non-Paying Bidder warning,
both of which can ultimately lead to suspension from eBay.
