Imperial Rome, Constantine the Great 307 - 337 AD. Follis of 319
AD. Thessalonica Mint. 3.26g. CONSTANTINVS AVG, his laureate and
cuirassed bust rt. / VIRT. EXERC., Plan of a Roman camp, Sol
standing in the middle, raising rt. hand, holding a globe in lt.,
chlamys across lt. shoulder, .TA.(gamma). in ex. RIC 66. Nice VF.
A very rare issue with different interpretations of the scene on
the reverse. I use the RIC explanation, but one very plausible
interpretation can be found in one of the more recent Celator
issues.
