NERO CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG GER P M TR PM TR IP MP PP Laureate bust of Nero right, wearing aegis. R/ AVG VSTI S P Q R OST C, Aerial view of the Port of Ostia: at the top pharus surmounted by a statue of Neptune; below, reclining figure of Tiber holding a rudder in his right hand and a dolphin in his left.The whole flanked by a colonnade on the left terminating in a sacrifice at an altar before a temple; to the right, a curved row of eight slips; within the harbur seven ships of vaying types and sizes. Not in RIC ( see n. 181 but other distibution of rev. legende). Not in Cohen (see 41); not in BMC (see p. 222 note*); not in CBN; not in WCN (see. 105). Bauten Roms 150 var. Dark green patina. A good very fine. A splendid example of the famed Ostia sestertius.
