Contorniate. In the name of Nero . Late 4th century AD. (32mm, 21.99 g, 12h).
NERO CLAVD CAESAR AVG GERM PM TR P IMP [P P], laureate head left; uncertain monogram incised to left / ROMA in exergue, S C across field, Roma seated left on cuirass, right foot on helmet, holding Victory and parazonium; shield behind; IXI incised to right. Alf?ldi, Kontorniat 129; Tocci -; Sachero -. VF, dark green patina, small scratch in obverse field. Exceptional style, likely copied directly from an original sestertius of Nero.
